The light of the world represented by a candle in the darkness. The eye is drawn to the light just as the soul is drawn to the light of the word, Jesus. Candle light is a powerful metaphor for life, souls and light that penetrates the darkness. We are called to be a candle in the rain, light a Christmas candle for the one we love and be the light of the world to a dark and dying world. There are so many metaphors that can be used to describe this iconic image but the most powerful one is how the world seeks and needs light, without it we are eternally lost.
